Tell the Lake Superior Binational Forum at least one thing you'd like to do this year to reduce your impacts on the natural environment around Lake Superior. (Check as many as you wish)

Take a shorter shower
Replace parts of your lawn with native plants that need less watering
Plant a rain garden in your yard or at your business to catch rainwater
Put a nozzle on the garden hose so you can turn it off
Put a rain barrel under a gutter to collect rain and use it to water plants or the lawn
Install a water saving device on the showerhead
Install a water saving device on all kitchen and bathroom faucets
Turn off the faucet when shaving or brushing teeth
Fix a leaky toilet or sink

Replace at least one incandescent light bulb in every room with an energy efficient bulb
Replace a traditional thermostat with a programmable one
Purchase an Energy Star appliance and dispose of the older model responsibly
Unplug any appliance or device that has a red LED on it when gone for more than two days
Turn off your computer when you leave work or home for the day
Replace an old leaky window with an energy efficient window sill and fittings
Put a draft dodger at a leaky door or window to reduce cold air from entering your house

Take one less trip in your car or vehicle per week
Walk or bike or take mass transportation to work or errands at least one day per week
Fully inflate the tires on your vehicle to improve gas mileage
Make sure your engine is turned and the exhaust system is running well

Get rid of burn barrel and look for better and safter ways of disposing household garbage
Use reusable grocery bags and take them with you shopping as much as possible
If you take a plastic or paper bag reuse it as long as possible and then recycle it
Buy food in bulk when possible

Give unwanted but usable items to thrift stores instead of throwing in the garbage

Dispose of all pesticides and herbicides by taking them to a collection event or facility
Don't purchase these lawn chemicals unless it's really necessary
Stop putting anything into a storm sewage drain in the road or streets
Water plants or lawn early in the morning or later at night when water is less likely to evaporate
Check my boat and trailer for aquatic/land weeds when entering/leaving a lake
Watch out for waterfowl and animals when using boats and personal watercraft on lakes
