Each week in February we'll talk with a recipient of the Lake Superior Binational Program's Environmental Stewardship Awards Program. The 2010 awards cycle is now open for new nominations--all applications are due by April 16, 2010. Check out our awards page for information and an application form.

All programs air live on WOJB-FM (88.9 FM or listen on the web at http://www.wojb.org) at approximately 8:25 a.m. (Central Time)

February 5
Guest is Dave Johnson, sixth grade teacher at Marshall School, Duluth, MN, will talk about what his students have done to improve the natural environment of Brewery Creek, a small but battered creek that runs through the school's campus and empties into Lake Superior.

February 12
Guest is Julie O'Leary, a member of the congregation of the Duluth Unitarian Universalist Church, will tell us about the new church that was recently constructed using many sustainable building features inside and out.

February 19
Frank Edgson, a volunteer with the Northshore Steelhead Association, will describe how the volunteer group has restored natural stream habitats to improve fish populations.

February 26
Jody Belluz, the co-owner of the Belluz Farm in Thunder Bay will talk about how organic gardening improves our health and environment. This multi-generational family of farmers protects the land and water by incorporating many sustainable practices in healthy and educational ways.
